Adventure Holidays

Having an energetic and sporty holiday can be a great way changing the daily routine, but it can be even more enjoyable if you have it abroad. Here are a few Middle Eastern destinations which are perfect places to get some exercise:

Egypt: the country’s Sinai Peninsula juts out into the Red Sea, and this is among the best locations in the world for scuba diving. The city of Sharm el-Sheikh is perhaps the best known in the region for this activity, and it’s easy to see why: coral gardens are dotted al around this underwater area, and several deep reef walls, some of them stretching to 800 metres in height, provide some of the best aquatic wildlife sights you can ever hope to see. For those who are less inclined to go beneath the water, though, there’s plenty to do above it, with surfing, para-sailing, and canoeing all very popular on the coast.

Saudi Arabia: although the first Saudi golf courses, devised by American expatriates eager to play, were made of an interesting concoction between sand and natural oils, the country is now famous for its golf. While you can still play the sport on this type of terrain, the country now boasts several professional standard grass-based courses, many of which are hotly tipped to be hosting grounds for future PGA Tour events. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or a newcomer to the sport, you won’t be disappointed by the facilities on offer here in Saudi, and the amazing climate makes it an absolute pleasure to be outdoors for a long stretch of time in a day.

Israel: if you enjoy a walking holiday, the rolling hills and ever-changing landscape of Israel could be just the place for you. The country’s proximity to the Mediterranean lends it a more temperate climate than some other Middle Eastern regions, and this can provide the perfect conditions for walking. Furthermore, a walk through Israel is often a walk through ancient history, whether you’re strolling along the Jordan on a biblical trek, or going between medieval crusader castles built by the Europeans.

Travelling abroad should really feel like a break, but, all too often, external factors and problems can ruin what should be your time of calm. Making sure you’ve sorted out the rental car before travelling, let alone booking the actual flights and hotel rooms, can sometimes lead you to believe that a holiday is more stress than it’s really worth. There are, however, plenty of travel firms which can sort these problems for you: AA Travel Insurance, for instance, offer cheap holiday insurance to protect you on your trip.
